Nursery Life

The Caterpillar group is for our youngest children (predominantly under 2 years old) who have their own dedicated play areas, which cater for all their needs. As children under the age of two years develop primarily by using their senses, we ensure that The Caterpillars' Open Access areas include a variety of sensory activities. They are also offered sand and water, creative and mark making, tactile and malleable play, construction play and much more. Activities are planned on a daily basis based on observations of the children and follow the key principles of the Birth to Three Matters framework.

Sleep

We believe that one of the most important times of a baby's day is sleep and rest. We have separate sleeping areas with cots, relaxing lighting and music, which provides a calm and peaceful environment for our babies to rest.

Meal times

The Caterpillar's have their own dining room, with high chairs and child sized tables. They also have "food stage levels" which rates food from 1 - 4 depending on how smooth or lumpy the food is. This ensures that our children are getting the correct consistency of food for their development. We also offer a different menu for our under 1's to support them through the weaning process.
